Paused for Fun... but first this:
Progress has been very good this week, with the addition of the rebar above the lintels, ready for pouring. The build is most definitely taking shape and looks fantastic.
As I mentioned in the last post, this weekend has seen the start of Sea Week, or as it's called locally, 'Semana do Mar', and work on site has now paused.
But before the builders downed tools for a well deserved break they forged ahead with gusto.

We can see here the next 'layer' or reinforcement that goes over the lintels: Yes, more rebar, which will be shuttered and poured. And there is that view again, never tiresome.
The picture above shows the view from inside the living area, across the main deck, where a temporary wooden safety rail shows the edge of the deck. There's that pesky tree again. The reinforcement shown will take the walls up to the roof.
Meanwhile interior structures and walls have been worked on:

Stairs. It looks like even these are forming part of the very strong reinforced structure.
The picture below shows the height of the mezzanine that runs across the bathroom, dressing room, bedroom and dining area. I need to take another look at the architectural drawings and see how the mezzanine is formed: Beams and planks or concrete....

This photo taken from the living area with the entrance just visible in the left hand corner. Later this entrance will have an arch top, purely decorative. Again we can see the rebar really tying everything together, linking all the walls and incorporating the upright structural pillars.
This weeks final photo gives an idea of the approach to the house from the Caminho Velho (The Old Road)...
Click on the map to zoom in .... the location of the road and house is shown by the red marker pin.

Overview of the build: I like this view from the top drive with the entrance porch and the land falling away below. Once the roof is on then the peak of Pico will not be visible from this viewpoint.
Next Up - Here comes the sun...
